We all know that Christmas is a time of giving. In our society, “giving” often means purchasing a gift for someone you love, wrapping it and presenting it to them on Christmas day. We enjoy watching them unwrap their present and the happiness that comes with receiving a thoughtful gift.
We gift them with something we think they would like, and gift ourselves with the joy of bringing them that happiness.
It’s a wonderful tradition that many of us love, but it carries the risk of becoming too caught up in the commercialism and materialism of the current age, which can spoil the entire point of the holiday.
And what is the point of the holiday? To remember, praise and express gratitude to God for the most wonderful gift of all — the gift of Jesus to the entire world. Jesus is God’s Christmas gift to us!
For the next four weeks, we’re going to discuss four blessings as we celebrate the gift of Jesus: Certainty, Preparation, Worship and Seeing.
- Certainty (Jay Scott)
- Preparation (Austin Seevers)
- Worship (Jay Scott)
- Seeing (Tom Sherrod)
NOTE: As we head into the holidays, we encourage everyone to spend quality time with those who matter most to them. Therefore, our sermon videos will likely be delayed due to vacation, etc. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your patience.
