Marriage Ministry

Worthington Christian Church has created a Marriage Ministry team dedicated to serving pre-married and married couples in our fellowship. The mentoring programs, classes and events we offer are designed to assist couples with strengthening their relationship with each other and with God.

The overall Marriage Ministry consists of three teams that work closely together for the purpose of promoting God’s plan for the marriage relationship:

  • Marriage Mentoring focuses on the pre-marriage stage, where couples who are engaged & planning a marriage are paired with experienced, trained Marriage Mentor couples to go thru a 7-session program designed to help them get started on the right foot. Please contact our Executive Minister, Lee Cox, for more information about Marriage Mentoring.
  • Restoring your Marriage focuses more on the “repairing” stage of the marriage relationship where mentor couples are also assigned to move alongside the couple seeking advice & mentorship to help them to repair & revitalize their relationship. Please contact Rob Polta or LeeAnne Polta for more information.
  • Marriage Matters is designed to appeal to those folks kind of in the middle, where the focus is on taking a good relationship to a great relationship, according to God’s plan. Questions? Please contact Tony & Rebecca Miranda.

Marriage Night

Healthy marriages don’t happen by accident. They require work and dedication, but with the busyness of day-to-day life and the pressures of culture it’s easy for a lot of us to lose focus. What is marriage supposed to look like when those initial bursts of excitement give way to everyday troubles and routines?

That question, and more, will be discussed in detail on Friday, June 7 during a special simulcast event, Marriage Night, here at WCC.

We invite you and your significant other to laugh and learn as you discover how to honor God in your marriage. Marriage Night will provide husbands, wives and engaged couples with expert teaching and principles for a lasting relationship while challenging them to see the greater purpose of marriage — to glorify God and advance his gospel. Marriage is made for more than a fairy tale ending. It’s a picture of God’s hope and redemption for a world in need of rescue.

Join us in the Worship Center for the Marriage Night simulcast on Friday, June 7 from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. To register, please go to the Marriage Night website. The cost is $15/person; no meal included.

Marriage Matters

We meet every on Sunday morning at 9:45 in rm. 291, but break for the summer and again over the winter holidays. We will resume our regular Marriage Matters Bible study group on Sunday, January 13 with “Love & Respect.”

Our Sunday morning class format usually involves a video lesson for about twenty minutes followed by group discussion. The atmosphere is one of positive encouragement and open to couples of all ages who are simply seeking to learn how to take their good relationship to a great relationship. It is purposely very friendly and non-confrontational, and most couples find it a little bit challenging at times, but also very enjoyable. One of our messages is that “married people are allowed to have fun, too!”

Please feel free to pop in at any time! You and your spouse would be welcomed openly to the group. Even if we are in the middle of a series, it’s not a problem at all to just jump in.

Staying in Love

Join us for another great 4-week study, “Staying in Love,” based upon the book by Andy Stanley. There’s no need to purchase the book as handouts will be provided. All you need to do is find the time to attend the class and we’ll do the rest!

The study begins Sunday, April 28 at 9:45 AM in rm. 133 and is open to all couples.

So that we know how many to expect, please RSVP today! For more information please contact either Tony or Rebecca Miranda.

Marriage Mentoring

Marriage Mentoring is available for engaged couples, newly married couples or couples wanting to strengthen their marriage by meeting with a more seasoned marriage mentor couple. Mentor couples will be assigned upon request and will meet in an informal setting monthly with the mentee couple to provide encouragement and support.

If you wish to get married at Worthington Christian Church, we require pre-married couples to complete a series of meetings with a mentor couple prior to the wedding. Please complete the Marriage Mentoring form if you are engaged to be married in the next 6-12 months.

After you complete the form, please click on the ‘Submit Form’ button on the top of your page. That will prompt Adobe Reader to email your form to our Minister of Discipleship, Lee Cox, who will then help get you connected in our Marriage Ministry. If you don’t see that button, you may save the PDF to your hard drive and email it directly to Lee as an attachment, or simply print it off and drop it by the Administration Wing at Worthington Christian Church.
