Prayer & Pastoral Care

Our ministers would be happy to stop by the hospital for prayer, encouragement and support if you or a WCC family member are hospitalized for any reason. If you or another WCC family member have surgery scheduled, they will come before the surgery to pray with you as well as visit afterwards to offer encouragement and support.

Please let us know when you are hospitalized, or if you know of another WCC family member who is, and you will be added to the hospital visitation schedule. Contact the Prayer Ministry or call the church office at 614-885-8389 (after hours voicemail: extension 116).

NOTE: If you have a prayer request that you DO NOT want published on the prayer chain, please make note of that when you submit your request. We have a ministry team that will pray for you regardless, we just won’t push that request out to our congregation of prayer warriors if those are your wishes.

As always, we respect your right to privacy and understand that not everyone wishes for a personal visit. If you would like to opt out of a minister visit, but would appreciate prayerful support, we would be more than happy to accommodate you. Simply tell us what you require from us in your time of need and we will do everything we can to help. Feel free to contact a minister directly if you wish.

56:7 Prayer Ministry

Worthington Christian Church is striving to live out Isaiah 56:7, “for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” This ministry supports several opportunities to offer prayers to God. Worthington Christian Church is striving to live out Isaiah 56:7, “for my house will be called a house of prayer for all nations.” This ministry supports several opportunities to offer prayers to God.

Why Pray?

  • To seek God’s will in your personal life.
  • To access God’s resources.
  • To praise Him and give Him thanks.
  • To seek forgiveness and submission.
  • To bring hope and the abundant life He promised.

The Prayer Chain
Prayer requests are collected via email, phone calls into the office and/or Connect Cards. Requests are then reviewed for any privacy concerns before being sent out to the prayer chain that evening. (Emergency prayer requests will go out as soon as possible.)

All WCC members are encouraged to join the prayer chain. If you’d like to join, please email your request to

Prayer During Church Services
The 56:7 team lead prayers in the Prayer Room (rm. 124) during each  church service on Sundays at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:00 AM. You’re welcome to join us during that time as we offer prayer and praise to God.

We follow the “ACTS” model of prayer. We begin with:

A for adoration to God
C for confession (silent or out loud)
T for thanksgiving
S for supplication or requests

56:7 Prayer Ministry Events

30 Days of Prayer
We offer 30-days of prayer for various activities such as Vacation Bible School, Send Me, National Day of Prayer, Easter, Christmas, etc. You can sign up to receive a daily text or email with a specific item to pray for that day. Watch the church bulletin for these opportunities.

End of Service Prayer Partners
At the end of each service, members and guests are invited to come forward to have a 56:7 team member pray with them regarding any special need they may have. You can spot a team member by the large name badge on a purple lanyard that they wear, or stop by the Welcome Center to be connected to a prayer partner.

School of Prayer
Classes on prayer are offered to Life Groups on Sunday morning as well as special events related to prayer.

The Prayer Room — rm. 124
The church has a designated room for prayer where you may come individually, or as a group, to pray. The room is open for use whenever the church building is open, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM or Sunday morning from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Other Opportunities/Events
The prayer team is always looking for ways to help Christians grow in their prayer life. We will let you know when these events are planned.
Join us and learn to pray in new and unique ways. Move from your prayer life being “a spiritual discipline” to your most important love relationship with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
