Senior Adult Ministry
Led by a host of volunteers, the newly formed WCC Senior Adult Ministry focuses on four areas of service, assistance and fellowship:
1. Learning Together: Opportunities for Personal Growth
Learning is life long! That is the main impetus for this ministry that offers practical programs helping senior adults grow spiritually and educationally. The Team schedules quarterly events called, “Learning at Lunch,” where participants pick up valuable tips to make adult living more wholesome and more enjoyable.
2. The Department of Fun and Fellowship
Senior adults feel better when living a mature life that includes times for fun and fellowship. Throughout the year, a diverse committee schedules activities where Christian friends can have fellowship, be part of conversations, take trips together, or enjoy a meal at a restaurant.
3. Serving Our Church and Our Communities
Service to others is the hallmark for this Team. In reaching out to others, this group of volunteers can provide transportation to appointments, help with chores, or meet special needs of adults. Further, the Team assists programs at the Church such as Vacation Bible School, office projects, and event assistance.
4. Grief Support Team: Comfort in Times of Loss
In the event of deaths within the senior adult family, the Grief Support Team offers a comforting hand of support and encouragement to survivors. In times of mourning, people need to feel compassion of others which is why the Team stands ready to be of assistance in times of bereavement.
