Biblical Authority

We all look at the world and the current events through a particular lens. What is natural in today’s society is to look at the Bible through the lens of current cultural trends. The reason “Biblical Authority” is a Core Value of our church is because we do the exact opposite.

  1. The Bible is the eternal Word of God.
  2. The Bible has generational impact.

Digging Deeper

Want to get a little deeper into the study? Below are some questions and thoughts to consider based on the sermon message. Feel free to work through them on your own, as a family or in your small group. (Discussion questions for elementary-age kids can be found below.) If you have questions, please contact us.

Discussion Questions:

  • Read 2 Timothy 3:16 and 2 Peter 1:21. Where did scripture ultimately come from? How does this help shape your view of the Bible?
  • Why is it sometimes easier to view the Bible through the lens of the culture rather than viewing culture through the lens of the Bible?
  • Read 1 Peter 1:24-25. Sunday we talked about how scripture has generational impact. Who has helped you understand scripture the most? Who is someone in another generation that you are helping know the Word of God?
  • New Testament writers often quote Old Testament scripture. Do you find it fascinating that we are reading the same scriptures that the earliest Christians also read? How does this motivate you to interact more with the Word of God?
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • How can you engage with scripture better in 2021? What step do you need to take next to help make this happen?
