Certainty

The life of Jesus is not a fairy-tale. It is a well-documented, carefully observed, and Holy Spirit inspired series of events where God decided to change the world by sending His one and only son, not to condemn the world, but to save it — through Jesus.

Therefore, Luke writes with confidence, inspired by the Holy Spirit, after carefully investigating the events of Jesus’ life through first-hand eyewitnesses.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

  • Why did Luke write this book for Theophilus? What helps affirm your faith?
  • Read verse Luke 1:3. Luke carefully investigated the life of Jesus and among the gospels he has the most detailed birth account. Why do you think the birth of Jesus was so important in his investigation?
  • What are some of the most common doubts concerning Jesus? How do you usually handle these doubts when they are brought up in conversation?
  • As a group, make a list of things that you know for certain about Jesus. What on this list gives you the most encouragement?

YOUR CALL TO ACTION:

  • This week, reflect on the certainty of what you believe about Jesus. What does the certainty of Jesus’ birth mean to your faith?
