Preparation

When we prepare for something it reveals what matters most to us. Through the account of John’s birth, we are reminded of God’s prepared plan from the beginning. God’s plan is always better than our plan, so we need to trust Him. Since He has prepared a plan for us it shows us that we matter most to God.

Sermon preached on December 15, 2019.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

  • We prepare for what matters most. Why do you agree or disagree with that statement?
  • In all of Luke’s investigative research, why do you think he included John’s birth account? He’s the only gospel writer to have written about the birth of John the Baptist.
  • Read Luke 1:6-7. Have you ever felt like you were doing everything you could to please God, but he still wasn’t giving you your heart’s desire? How did you feel in those moments?
  • What was John’s earthly role? Why was he to prepare the way for Jesus?
  • Zechariah still didn’t believe. Why do we sometimes struggle believing in God’s plan?

YOUR CALL TO ACTION:

  • Read John 14:1-4. Where is Jesus preparing a place for us and how should we live in preparation for this place?
