Digging Deeper

Want to get a little deeper into the study? Below are some questions and thoughts to consider based on the sermon message. Feel free to work through them on your own, as a family or in your small group. (Discussion questions for elementary-age kids can be found below.) If you have questions, please contact us.

Discussion Questions:

  • In this passage, where was Jesus and what was he doing? Why is this significant to what was about to happen?
  • Why did the teachers of the law and the Pharisees bring this woman to Jesus? What were they hoping to do? (For further discussion, read Deuteronomy 22:22. Why didn’t the teachers of the law and the Pharisees also bring the man involved?)
  • What was Jesus’ immediate response? Why do you think he kept quiet? How did the Pharisees respond to Jesus’ silence?
  • Do you enjoy sitting in silence or do you struggle with silence? Why is it important to be still in the presence of God?
  • How do you think the woman felt when Jesus spoke to her in verses 10-11? What is your response to God’s kindness in your life?
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • How can you be still this week and silently reflect on your relationship with Jesus?
