Intergenerational Relationships

If we are not helping the next generation come to know Jesus, then we are hindering the next generation from coming to know Jesus.

Sermon preached on February 2, 2020.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

  • In Mark 6:31, Jesus says to the disciples, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Why do you think Jesus said this to the disciples? Why is this verse important to us in the midst of our busyness?
  • Why did Jesus have compassion on the crowd and what was his response? What does this teach us about compassion?
  • When it came time to eat, what was the disciples’ response? How do you normally respond when you see a particular need?
  • Jesus did a lot with a little. Why do you think there were twelve baskets of food leftover? What do think was going through the disciples’ mind after this event?

YOUR CALL TO ACTION:

  • Jesus had a plan. He wanted to get away with his disciples, yet a large number of people recognized them and followed them. Instead of getting upset when his plans were ruined Jesus had compassion. What does this teach us about interruptions in life? How can we begin to see interruptions differently?
