The Prodigal Son (part 1)

Digging Deeper

Want to get a little deeper into the study? Below are some questions and thoughts to consider based on the sermon message. Feel free to work through them on your own, as a family or in your small group. (Discussion questions for elementary-age kids can be found below.) If you have questions, please contact us.

Discussion Questions:

  • What led to the younger son’s rebellion? Why do you think the father gave the son his inheritance?
  • At what point did the younger son decide to return home? How do you think he felt in that moment? Do you recall the time in your life when you decided to give your life to Jesus?
  • What especially stands out to you in the father’s reaction to the son’s return? What does this tell you about God?
  • How do you feel God’s acceptance in your life? How have you embraced his grace?
  • Why is this parable important for followers of Jesus? Why is this parable important for our Ones?
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • What is something measurable you can do this week to encourage your One (i.e. get a coffee, send a text, etc.)?
