Digging Deeper

Want to get a little deeper into the study? Below are some questions and thoughts to consider based on the sermon message. Feel free to work through them on your own, as a family or in your small group. (Discussion questions for elementary-age kids can be found below.) If you have questions, please contact us.

Discussion Questions:

  • How did God guide the magi to the place where Jesus was born? Read Romans 1:20. How is God using his creation to help you worship Jesus?
  • Read Micah 5:2. What is so significant about this prophecy? How does this prophecy provide encouragement for you today? How will it encourage you in future events?
  • How would you describe King Herod and the time during which Jesus was born?
  • Jay said in his sermon, “The world was a mess when Jesus was born. It was a mess when Jesus died. It was a mess when Jesus was resurrected. It will be a mess when Jesus comes back.” What frustrates you about this statement? What gives you hope?
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem proves to us that God is always in control even when it sometimes feels like He isn’t. Who can you share this positive message with this Christmas season?
