Project Description

Summer in the Son

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”   Matthew 11:28-29

Sermon preached on August 23, 2020.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:
  • Read John 14:5-14. How is what Jesus says in John similar to what he says in verse 27? How is it different? What does Jesus reveal to us about the Father?
  • Why does Jesus offer an invitation to the weary and burdened? How is this invitation similar to The Beatitudes found in Matthew 5:31?
  • What does verse 28 mean to you? When have you experienced God’s rest?
  • When have you questioned God during a difficult circumstance? (Jesus, if your yoke is easy and your burden is light then why…?)
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • Read 2 Corinthians 4:16-18. Where in your life do you need to look at things from an eternal perspective? This week try to memorize 2 Corinthians 4:18.
