Project Description

Our New Senior Minister: Jay Scott

Worthington Christian Church has been richly blessed by God’s grace, love, and faithfulness for over 40 years. One of the many ways God has blessed our church is with strong and faithful Senior Ministers.

Our first Senior Minister, Don Miller, served from our founding in April of 1975 until his untimely death in 1977.

Paul Patton took on the role of Senior Minister for three years until he was called back to serve in his home state of Kentucky.

In 1981 we welcomed Marshall Hayden as our third Senior Minister. He served in that role for 28 years until he retired in 2009.

David Roberson began his ministry with us when he became our fourth Senior Minister in 2010. He will remain on staff with us as Senior Minister Emeritus until he officially retires on June 30, 2019.

In March of 2006 we added Jay Scott to our staff as Youth Minister. He served in that role until he became our Outreach Minister in 2013. On March 4, 2018, we announced to the congregation the Elder’s decision to call Jay to become our next Senior Minister. Jay received his undergraduate degree in Biblical Studies & Ministry from Kentucky Christian University and his Masters of Divinity from Cincinnati Christian University. In 2018 he received his doctorate for Ministry from Ashland Theological Seminary.

Today, we’re excited to come together as a church family to celebrate God’s continued blessing of strong and faithful Senior Ministers serving at Worthington Christian Church as we name Jay Scott as our fifth Senior Minister.

Sermon preached on March 17, 2019.
