Do Not Worry

All of us struggle on occasion, but it is good to remember what Jesus tells us in Luke 12:23-24, “For life is more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do not sow or reap, they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how much more valuable you are than birds!”

Digging Deeper

Want to get a little deeper into the study? Below are some questions and thoughts to consider based on the sermon message. Feel free to work through them on your own, as a family or in your small group. (Discussion questions for elementary-age kids can be found below.) If you have questions, please contact us.

Discussion Questions:

  • Why do you think Jesus told his disciples not to worry right after he shared with them the parable of the rich young fool?
  • According to this passage of Scripture, in what ways does Jesus provide for us? With this in mind, why is worry such a struggle?
  • What are you worrying about most in your life? How has the previous year impacted your worry?
  • Read verses 29-31. How is the heart and worry connected? What does Jesus say our heart should be set on?
  • What is something in your life that you are currently “running after” (verse 30)? How does this affect your physical, spiritual, and emotional health?
YOUR CALL TO ACTION:
  • Jesus finishes this passage by telling his disciples, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” This week, take time to reflect on the treasures of your heart. What is your heart currently set on?
