Thanksgiving Feast

Providing meals for struggling families

“The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor” (Proverbs 22:9).

Due to COVID, the Dream Center has had to adjust their strategy by offering “to-go meals.” For Thanksgiving, they will be providing meals for working poor families with a Thanksgiving Basket (in addition to providing meals for the homeless). The Dream Center has requested our help in providing specific items to fill each basket. Therefore, this year, instead of providing hot meals on Thanksgiving Day, we will be donating items to fill a basket!

This is a great opportunity for individuals, families and groups to “donate a basket” that you either fill yourself OR donate a few needed items to fill a basket that we will assemble here at church or at the Dream Center the week before Thanksgiving.

WHAT IS A “THANKSGIVING BASKET?”

It’s a box or Dollar Store laundry basket filled with everything a struggling family needs to have a delicious Thanksgiving meal! The basket will be delivered on Saturday, November 21 so all donations must be returned to the church by Sunday, November 15.

NOTE: You don’t have to donate an entire basket if you don’t want to. You can just donate a few items to help fill one. If you want to supply a disposable turkey pan and two cans of sweet potatoes — that’s great! We’re happy to take whatever you can donate.

WHAT CAN I DONATE?

Our goal is to provide 100 Thanksgiving Baskets, so we need you to donate pretty much everything EXCEPT the frozen turkey. (WCC will be providing those.) You can find a list of needed items below. You can also download the print this PDF to take with you to the grocery store.
