Reading Through Genesis
Ladies have you ever tried to read through the Bible, beginning to end, and gotten stuck? You’re not alone! The Bible is rich in history, poetry, wisdom and… complexities.
The first book of the Bible, Genesis, literally means “beginning” and it is where we first see God bringing order out of chaos. After God created Man, chaos returned when mankind disobeyed God… but that’s not the end of the story! God then responded to humanity’s rebellion by initiating a plan to restore mankind to Himself.
Genesis is the very beginning of God’s love story for each of us and it is important for us to understand what happens in that book. We invite you to join us this summer as we read Genesis together!
BIBLE STUDY FORMAT:
Our Women’s Ministry team decided to try something a little bit different for our summer study and you’re invited to join us!
Summer is a great time to develop our one-on-one time with God, but it certainly helps when we can also encourage each other as we grow in our relationship with the Lord. Beginning Thursday, June 3, we are going to read the Book of Genesis and we will use The BibleProject as a guide. We will also meet on Zoom periodically to further encourage each other and discuss what we have learned to help each of us walk through the scriptures together.
Each woman that joins this group will read approximately seven chapters in Genesis each week and watch one or two 5-minute videos at home at your leisure.
The study begins on Thursday, June 3 at 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM
We will meet via Zoom on June 3 and show you everything you need to know about connecting to The Bible Project. We will also watch a short video together to get started.
MEETING DATES & TIMES:
We will check in with each other to discuss the chapters we have covered.
- Thursday, June 24 at either 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM – we will discuss chapters 1-21
- Thursday, July 15 at either 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM – we will discuss chapters 22-40
- Thursday, July 29 at either 10:00 AM or 7:00 PM – we will discuss chapters 41-50 (in-person, if allowed, to celebrate completing the Book of Genesis!)
The BibleProject is a nonprofit educational organization and animation studio that produces free Bible videos, podcasts, blogs, classes and Bible resources. You can learn more about The BibleProject from their website.
A note about Zoom:
Since we will be meeting via Zoom, you will need to have an internet connection and a computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone to connect with us. At minimum, you will need a speaker and microphone. (Most laptops have a webcam built in. Your smartphone will have a speaker, microphone and video capabilities.)
If you join with video, we will be able to see and hear you. If you join with audio, we will only be able to hear you. It is entirely up to you how you wish to join — both ways are fine! If you are completely unfamiliar with Zoom, please watch this video tutorial about the software. Additional tutorials are also available.
